BarBeatCue, BarBeatCue Satellite and BarBeatCue Display · last updated 13 October 2026

BarBeatCue (the Mac app), BarBeatCue Satellite (the iPad and iPhone app) and BarBeatCue Display (the Apple TV app) are made by Ron Klein. The practices below are the same for all three apps. They are tools for a band on stage. They do not have accounts, they do not show ads, and they do not track you.

What the apps collect

Nothing. None of the apps collects personal data, usage statistics or analytics, and none contains any third-party analytics or advertising code. Your setlists, songs, audio, scores and annotations stay in the files on your own Mac (and the copies your own iPads and iPhones keep).

What leaves your device, and only when

The apps connect to the internet only for these, each of which you start or can switch off:

On your local network

The Mac app and the iPad, iPhone and Apple TV apps talk to each other over your local Wi-Fi (Bonjour and OSC) to show the song's position, charts and scores on the screens (the Apple TV fetches no score). This traffic stays on your local network. A remote-control passphrase, if you set one, never travels in clear.

Permissions the apps ask for

This website

barbeatcue.live is served by Cloudflare, whose standard logs record the IP address of each request for a limited time. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Its three typefaces (Newsreader, Source Sans 3 and IBM Plex Mono) are files on the site itself, so no page asks anyone else for a font, a script or a picture. The contact form sends what you type to support@barbeatcue.live and nowhere else, and uses Cloudflare Turnstile to keep bots out.

Children

The apps are not directed at children and collect no data from anyone.
